Career is the specific working part of human life. Now a days this term is being widely used in our daily life. Towards the end of university life, there is a kind of anxiety about career among the students. Going abroad to get higher education or working in government, private or multinational organizations or becoming an entrepreneur are going though their minds. Not being able to take a suitable decision during this time, later becomes a curse in many people’s lives. Some organizations are very active in Chittagong University of Engineering (CUET) to make students aware of career. They are discussed below:-
CUET Career Club:-
CUET Career Club is at the forefront of career awareness at CUET. Since its establishment in 2016, the organization has been organizing various workshops on career awareness and developing leadership skills in the university premises. Besides, they organised many workshop conducted by well established entrepreneurs which inspired students to launch new ventures. Sometimes they organize job fairs to give outgoing students a chance to get a job before they pass.
CUET Computer Club:-
It is mainly a computer Science & Engineering (CSE) department oriented organization. But students interested in computer programming of other departments are also working here. This organization has been organizing programming competitions at different times. Apart from this, they organize workshops and seminars on Machine Learning, Web Development and Blockchain etc.
Andromeda Space and Robotics Research Organization (ASRRO):-
ASRRO was launched in 2010 mainly to encourage students to do research based work. Besides, they have been organizing workshops on some important topics of engineering sector like PCB Design, Arduino Programming, NRF Coding, Reject Native, Matlab etc. to improve the technical skills of the students.
CUET Model United Nations Club:-
The Model United Nations Club (MUN Club) was established in 2019 at CUET is the first ever MUN Club among the engineering universities in Bangladesh. They are working on developing important skills like public speaking, debate, networking and leadership among students. In 2019, the organization organized the first ‘Intra CUET MUN’ which get too much popular at CUET campus.
CUET CAD Society:-
Computer Aided Design (CAD) software is widely used in product design and simulation. So, having the skill in this software make an engineer more qualified at the job market. The organization has been organizing regular workshops on various aspects of career development besides making the students skilled in CAD.
American Concrete Institute (ACI), CUET Chapter:-
CUET chapter of international organization ACI is mainly a Civil Engineering Department centered organisation. But students of Water Resources Engineering department and Architecture department are also involved here. This organization mainly organizes workshops, researches and competitions on concrete. They are also regularly organizing seminars and workshops on civil engineering and higher education.
Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), CUET Branch:-
International organization IEEE’s CUET student branch has organized industrial tours and internships which has garnered much appreciation in the university premises. Moreover, they have been organizing workshops on Matlab, Python, Machine Learning etc. to improve the skills among the students.
CUET Automotive and Mobility Society (CAMS):
This Mechanical Engineering Department based organization is working to create interest in automobiles among the students. They provides training in various automobile industries to impart direct knowledge about various parts of automobile to the students and further advance them. At present this Society has undertaken the project of implementing a Formula Racing Car and an Electronic Car.
American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), CUET Student Chapter:-
ASME is a professional organization of Mechanical Engineers. They possess the Learning & development sector that deals with skill development oriented courses including soft skills, technical skills, etc that are vital in the professional career of an Engineer. They also host different conferences and journals regarding the day to day innovations being added to the industrial sector. Besides, they host a podcast channel where they bring in industrial experts to talk about the recent challenges and problems being faced in the industry.
Supply Chain and Business Alliance, CUET:-
This organization made its debut during the Corona period. It is mainly formed to spread knowledge of supply chain among the students of CUET. In this month they arranged a national case solving competition on supply chain. 104 teams from 31 different Universities attended at that competition.
Apart from this, the CUET student chapters of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) etc. have also gained popularity among students. They have also been doing various things to increase career awareness in CUET.
